About quitting smoking (champix)?

HELP, PLEASE.... I wonder has anyone had any experience with anxiety SAD / GAD.. WELL..I have been suffering quite badly for about 6 years now, iv tried all anti depressants a doc could ever prescribe! the doc knows im far from depressed but they were being used to treat my anxiety( which only made the situation alot worse).. at the min im being prescribed diazepam...which work wondes by the way!( which will prb be withdrawin shortly too) but my question is giving up smoking (nearly 50 p/day).. iv done the 3 month nrt patches scheme, nrt gum, inhalators but just couldnt get over the cravings,iv been trying too qiut nearly 2 years now.. so i heard all the horror stories about Zyban.. never fancied them.. but now iv heard of Champix done quite a bit of reasarch.. anyone any idea's, with a history like mine using these too aid quitting? Should i / maybe not will doc / smoking ceasetion clinics use this treatment on me?.. wits end!! the smoking is really badly affecting my health. any reasonable replies appreciated!!!!

Be very careful with Champix, there have been an awful lot of cases where there have been severe neuropharmaceutical side effects, such as a happily married father of two with no history of psychological problems who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head while taking it.
