Is tatanus shot important if we get a wound from fall, on the road? If yes, how soon should it be given?

My 11 year old daughter got wounded when she fell on the road. The road is mostly used by people jogging and walking alonwith pets.She got first aid by a private doctor here in singapore but he did not mention anything about the tetanus shot. I am just concerned. She probably had her last vaccine 7 years ago.

As long as she didn't hit something metal or rusty, she should be ok. You need a shot every 10 years, but if she had fallen on a rusty nail I think they recommend getting a booster if she hadn't had one in 5 years.
In other words, I wouldn't worry about it.

But, if you are still concerned, ask the doctor specifically about it. A quick call might ease your mind.

I don't know about Sinapore... in India there is a lot of tetnus in the ground (if that's the way you put it) and so shots are given all the time... but in some places you only need a shot if it's animal/rust related or if it's a puncture wound.

Tetanus dies when it has contact with air, it has to be a deep puncture wound. If it is just a scratch or scrape, then I would not worry about it.
