Oinments for cat bites? home remedies for sores that appear infected??

This cat appeared 12 months ago and I think Her oners left her so I look after her. They use to keep her inside but now she wanders around at night and gets into cat fights. She has a realy nasty bite mark on her side which was healing but now is pussy and sore and weeping. I took her to the vets and he gave her injections and the feline aids vaccine. But thsi sore is realy nasty. I now have set up the shed with a cat bed and water and lock her in there at night because when she is roaming about her sores are reopened in fights. The vet mentioned an expensive operation for her as he thinks there are chanels of infection. I just dont have the money to put the cat under a local. Do any of you kind animal lovers have any ointment recipes or sugestions for tending to this wound. I have been bathing it in detol. i also have some antibiotics for her. appart from the bite woulds she is a healthy and happy cat and a very nice cat and i would like to help her.

You are a kind person for looking after this cat. You have done the right thing and taken her to the vet and keeping her in at night. Try to squeeze as much puss out of the wound as you can each day and clean the wound, try putting honey on the wounded area. Honey has amazing properties, antibacterial, anti-fungal and possibly antiviral as well. It clears up cold sores in a day. You could also try putting a little garlic powder in her food as it will support her immune system. Good luck.

Open the wound and clean the pus if you can stand it. Put an antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin on it, and cover it with a bandage. If it hasn't shown SUBSTANTIAL improvement in 24 hours, or if you see streaks of red radiating from it, get to your doctor or an emergency room.

Try cleaning out the wound with peroxide

open it, squeeze out the pus rinsing with water, use lots of flowing hydrogen peroxide, pausing to let it bubble, then continue until it stops bubbling. cover with bacitracin ointment, repeat often!!!!!!!!!!!! very often!!!!!!!!!!!!

if all else faill there are community shemes where you can takie your pet usually held once a week where you can take your for treatment at hugely knocked down rates if not free in some cases,check with your rspca or local council to find out more

Hi there...ideally, it's best to clean the wound by draining it and then cleaning it with ONLY water and antibacterial soap. Please do NOT use hydrogen peroxide as it pushes the bacteria deeper into the wound as well as scarring. Although everyone here on Yahoo Answers may mean well, it's better to only entrust a licenced medical professional for serious injuries such as bite wounds, which can develop into an abscess and are may become life-threatening. Cats mouths are full of bacteria and medically treating with antibiotics is necessary for most. Since your vet has seen the cat already for the injuries consider ringing the vet to discuss some home care treatment if they feel this will be alright rather than having you bring back the cat again.
