Can AIDS be cured?

Is there a vaccine that works to prevent AIDS?

There isn't any CURE for HIV/AIDS. There also isn't any vaccine that prevents it. The person who suggested there isn't a cure because people are getting rich by letting people stay ill isn't thinking about the people who'd get rich by inventing, making, or selling a cure or vaccine. If there was a cure, more people would get AIDS because they wouldn't have to worry about having protected sex. More infection means selling more drugs to cure it.

Someone also suggest there is a cure for HIV... if you keep taking certain medications. Are diabetics cured because they take insulin? Are people with high blood pressure cured because they take their high blood pressure medication. Taking mediation to keep an illness from killing you isn't the same thing as being cured.

yes, but as long as we keep giving money we wont have a cure. imagine all the people who would lose their jobs.

I hope not! AIDS is a disease to punish those who engage in dangerous and sin full activities. AIDS will also control the world population which is "busting at the seems".

I did a report on HIV/AIDS. No it can't be cured and there are no vaccines. The only medicine that is available is medicine to keep your immune system up. Other than that it's can't be cured and no vaccine.

no! it can't!! the virus keeps changing "shape" so antibodies cannot kill it!

The only thing that prevents AIDS is safe sex and not letting your blood get mixed with other peoples. No, it can't be cured once you have it.

no there is not..yet there are medicines that can give AIDS patients a semi-normal life.(besides the dozns of pills they need)

No they cant you can take medicine persciped by the doctor to help you live longer but once you stop taking the pills you soon die

aids and hiv are different beasts.

as of now there is no cure for aids but depending on the genotype we can pretty much stop hiv in it's tracts pending you stay on the meds given.

your best bet is safe sex.

There is a cure to stop the spread of AIDS and stds...it's called ABSTINENCE. You can't get anything by not doing anything. Yet some folks think that it won't happen to them if they use a condom b/c it's safe. It's not 100% foolproof. If others still think it's the only way to go, then ask a pt. who has it that thought the same thing. Even those who thought they couldn't get pregnant by using one.
