Cure for Aids (Or at least a vaccine)

This is exiting news.

No, I don't believe it. While I believe that they may find a type of vaccine that works for a period of time, the fact that AIDS is an RNA virus tells you that there will never be a one-shot cure, period.

RNA viruses, such as the flu, mutate at a much more rapid rate than DNA viruses like Polio. And as I'm sure you know, even if you got the flu shot last year, it may not protect you this year. And if you got the flu shot this year, that doesn't always mean that you won't get the flu this year.

Consider that many people, by the time they die from AIDS, frequently contain 8 different variants of HIV. All of them are different mutations.

AIDS is essentially the perfect killer in every respect... from the attack docking on the CD4 protein, to dormancy, to mutation, and having the target of its attack be the one immune cell required to get rid of it. The ironic thing about HIV, is that no one actually dies from HIV. They die from other things, including bizzare forms of cancer, because the immune system has been defeated.

We will need to abandon our current concepts of immunology and vaccine to ever defeat AIDS. Think nano-technology.

I read your links and this isn't a claim about anything except a possible treatment and a possible preventive vaccine. The second link doesn't give specifics as to how the vaccine works but at least the first link does but it's for treatment rather than prevention. However, it appears that both links are talking about the same thing, a research project being conducted by Harvard Med. & Texas Tech.

Believe me no one's going to make claims until these go to clinical trials. And so many have failed the clinicals or backfired (as in the case of Isenstress which ended up worsening HIV infection), that it's going to take FDA approval to go to trials, several more years and longitudinal follow up studies to make substantial claims. At this stage of the game, the second link is vague and says nothing and the first link is premature but promising. RNA interference is an angle that's been taken before by other R&D teams.

Do I believe it? Believe what? There's nothing to believe yet.

I dont belive this or any other meds they seem to say are good till there is REAL proof of the effects on the human bodys only then I will belive all the medical bull that is always being shoved down the Amercians neck try this or that and alot have some nasty effects to humans if this is a cure the doors would be torn off by all the people who are infected by Aids.and people would be spreading the news so fast. But none of this is going on.

It's all a scam to get you to believe that they are still working on a cure. When in fact, there is already a cure for AIDS/HIV... AIDS CURE: U.S. Patent #5676977. Everything that you've been told to believe, is false. The government is suppressing the information from the public. The elite and corporations are the ones that run the government. You can call me paranoid but it is fact. I encourage people who read this to do some research on this matter, just don't take my word for it. The truth is there, sometimes you have to look beyond the pale to find it. Dr. Robert Strecker was the first person to put himself and career on the line to make what is now called the Strecker Memorandum (which is a documentary), which debunks the source of HIV/AIDS.
