Is it true that people from England are immune to AIDS and most viruses?

I was watching a show today and they said because of the black death in England in the 1300s where 1/3 for the population died. the ones that survived eather evolved to block those infection or were immune to it. I heard because of that their children were also immune to it and so on

yes, as a matter of fact, there are clusters of Europeans that are immune to HIV...In England, they find villages of people whose population has changed little over the centuries, those whose ancestors survived the disease ARE immune. Portegese, especially from Madagascar, are show a high lever of immunity. MY love is immune to HIV...Science is studying the mechanism to see if it can be decoded and used as a vaccine. there is hope out there.

I doubt it.

no...... ask any english person with hiv or aids

I remember hearing that on the discovery channel. I think it is true. If I remember right, they can still be carriers.

NO-ONE is immune from aids or hiv never forget that

Im british, born and bred in the capital city of London, one of the places where STD's have increased by 50% over recent years, mainly in the teenage populate where they aint been wearing rubber, im 20 , im in the Unitd States, i immigrated not so long ago (a month) and one requirement was before i was aloud to immigrate was to have a medical examination, this included a blood test, tey tested for HIV/AIDS and syphillis, they also checked my genitalia to see if they was healthy lookin. Im not joking, this is only if you are immigrating, british visitors dont nneed anything of the sort. So i can unfortunately say that we aint immune to those kind of diseases, as far as you say immune, people(like animals) can carry a disease, showing no syptoms of effects of it, spreading it and killing people from it and never knwoing the have it.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont be an IDIOT!!!! Please!!!!!

no way no how

Nobody is immune to viruses, including HIV. There are some people who can have HIV and after 25 years never develop symptoms. There are some people who are exposed repeatedly to HIV who don't get it while another person exposed once does get it-- who knows why? Each person is different and I wouldn't say a group of people would all be immune to anything. That is just dangerous thinking.

It aired on an episode of "Secrets of the Dead" on PBS. Heres the site for it.

Some people of European descent carry what is known as the Delta 32 gene. It is a deletion mutation. The HIV virus requires a receptor on T-cells, CCR5, to enter its host. People with the Delta 32 gene don't have these receptors. During the Black Plague, having a copy of this gene gave them resistance to the plague. Today, many of these survivors have decendants that still carry the gene. Having one copy of this gene gives a person a significant delay in the progression of HIV, and with two copies it is possible to not become infected.

I'm English and after 2,800 sexual partners have never had an std (seriously) so perhaps you are right.

Really!?
I'm English and i've never heard of this, it's really interesting - wonder if it's true!
