Aids - differences between men and women?

Unlike some other questions on this subject, i am not here to wave propoganda and extremist beliefs in anyone's face. Aids is equally transmittable to men and women, straight and gay.
So how come, when giving blood, the form says that if you are a man who has had sex with another man, yu cannot give blood, but if you are a woman who has had sex with a man who has had sex with another man you can donate after 1 year? surely you are just as likely to develop Aids after exposure to the virus regardless of if you are a man or a woman? Or am i wrong?

i know men having anal sex is a more likely infection point, but surely if a man caught HIV from this, developed AIDS and had sex with a woman, she would be as likely to catch HIV then? hope this clarifies the question.

The CDC. Center for Desease Control has been under extreme pressure to abandon science and common sense and under the Bush administration fund more of their resourses to abstanance. Everything you say is true. Just a couple percentage point now separate the HIV/AIDS infection rate between the gay male and straight community outbreaks. It is slightly safer for vaginal sex because of natural lubrication, the Anuss has no such lube and if enough WATER BASED lube is not used the anall lining can have tiny tears to let the infection in. Using oil based lubes breaks down the latex and can allow the virus to pass right thru the condom while seeming intact (its that small). Using a spermacide condom can irritate the anal lining too and if anything escpaes, the virus has an entry.

As far as i know its the same for everyone, i thought the virus should show within 3 months, but maybe the scientists know something we commoners don't

Anyone who is in good health, is at least 17 years old, and weighs at least 110 pounds may donate blood every 56 days.

It's a lot easier for a man to develop AIDS after having sex with another man because they tear the skin in the anus when they have sex and blood and semen get mixed. For the women, you'd probably have some idea if you had AIDS or had possibly been exposed to AIDS after a years time. I don't know if this answers your question or not, but I tried.

Well sometimes HIV takes up to 6 months to show up in blood tests. The reason they do not want gay men to give is because of their type of sex. Anal sex causes small tears in the rectum lining, which makes it WAY easier for the virus to get in the other persons body. If the woman has waited a year after having sex with a man who had gay sex...the HIV will show up in the blood once they give it. For instance....if a man had HIV and had anal sex with a woman who did not have HIV...she would be even MORE likely to contract the virus than she would with just vaginal sex. I hope this made it a little more clear?????
