The cure for AIDS?

I'm researching for a novel and need some feed back... Would it be plausable to link the cure for AIDS with the idea of the Jonas Saulk's polio vaccination? His vaccine works against a virus and aids is caused by a virus. Logically, if you can destroy/arrest/eliminate the production of viruses such as polio through vaccination, then isn't it entirely possible to start with this idea and work from there in the matters concerning AIDS?

I'm not comparing the two diseases themselves. I am comparing--rather presumptuosly--that the are both viruses to begin with. (Warning! bug spray anaolgy coming) There are many types of bug spray for many types of bugs/insects. However, one will pretty much do the job on the other.

Logically speaking, no. There is a cure for AIDS, but its not what you said.

No. Aids disguises itself as white blood cells. Are you really writing a novel on this?

You should really do some REAL research.

its endless theory... cannot cure but prevent....

no, it isn't

HIV reduces/rids the body's ability to thwart off infections and diseases, the problem with curing it is that there are many different strands and the disease is always mutating, this is the same type of problem as getting say the common cold

ironically though, alavert (an alergy medicine) tends to rid any colds and cold symptoms that bother me, so you could say it cures my cold... I don't see how a vaccination would be any more effective against HIV than against colds, but it may be possible to come up with something that prevents HIV from tearing down the immune system and if it can't tear anything down it could hypothetically leave ... pure speculation and wishful thinking though so don't hold me to any of this

Aids progresses from being HIV positive, so please research and understand the difference

The only cure for AIDS is to not have sex with anyone but one person who you know only has sex with you...PERIOD!!
Good luck

Nice thought, but no. There are many different strains of HIV as well as HIV1 and HIV2. The virus mutates itself once in the Host body and when it is transmitted the resistance the the medication(s) the carrier had is also passed on.

The polio virus is just one type of virus where there are so many different type of HIV a "general" vaccine won't work at this point in time.
