Some questions about AIDS? |
Why AIDS can be spread through sexual intercourse? I heard the virus of AIDS is spread through blood. So, if a male and a female is having sex, and they don't have a cut or wound, will they still get infected if one of them have AIDS? HIV is a virus that can/may lead to AIDS. AIDS itself is not a virus. It stands for Aquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. HIV is a bloodborn disease, it can be spread by contact with blood or bodily fluids with cuts, sharing needles or through mucous membranes (in the nose, mouth, vagina, anus...). Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells. The three major routes of transmission are unprotected sexual intercourse, contaminated needles, and transmission from an infected mother to her baby at birth, or through breast milk. Screening of blood products for HIV in the developed world has largely eliminated transmission through blood transfusions or infected blood products in these countries. yeah, they still can...
