How do you really get AIDS or STD's?

I mean, does the "aids" virus travel through the sperm/ semen or would one be infected as soon as the genitals make contact with each other? Does it apply to all three? (Vaginal, Oral. and Anal?)

AIDS is disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency VIrus (HIV). AIDS is a stage where the HIV has depleted the immune system so much where a person has a hard time fighting common infections and viruses. HIV is found in the fluids of the person who is infected. The highest risk of contracting HIV comes from being the receptive person in anal sex and not using condoms. HIV is contracted by bodily fluids coming into contact with an open wound. Condoms help prevent HIV infection but they break. Other STDs, herpes and warts, syphillis and gonorhea, condoms help prevent these as well, but not genital warts or herpes. These are both viruses that can spread through contact because these viruses can be dormant, but still infectious. Herpes more in fluid but Genital warts - just by contact - condoms are great at preventing the spread of warts. Any sexual contact with a person infected with HIV without a condom would put you at risk of contracting the virus. The includes STD's as well. That is why abstinence is the only known way of preventing infection of HIV and STDs. Abstinence is almost impossible that is why it is best to be educated about the use of condoms and to know your sex partners. If the condom breaks you can still potentially prevent HIV if you can get treatment in 48 - 72 hours. There is a research study looked a treating those who thought they were infected within the first 48-72 hours, with HIV drugs you can help prevent HIV infection. Not alot of people know about this because people believe that this information will make people more promiscous. I believe in information because humans beings are sexual. So, good luck to you..

if you are having sex and happen to make contact with blood of an infected person, torn tissue, basically blood contact, not sperm, but for STD's I think its different, you can catch std's by having sex, contact with genitals, oral contact. Its a dirty world thats why you should always protect yourself. I know you can get crabs from just being to close to someone or even sitting on a toilet seat

Not oral so much as the saliva seems to kill the virus. The other two when body fluids make contact.

Bodily fluids.

from me

no it does not travel...there is this thing were it will go voluntaryly...even when no one calls it....by the way,.sometimes its takes off...on your computer when you are not home..open your email...check on your girlfriend...to make shure...she wont find you...what else?

diferent std's transmit in different ways

some are surface infections, and transmit just through skin to skin contact, herpes and genital warts are two that come to mind, both viral and cannot be cured

HIV is a fluid-borne virus, almost exclusively found in blood and sexual secretions. It requires fluid transmission, vaginal secretions, semen, etc. However, pre-ejaculatory fluid contains the virus as well, so can be transmitted before ejaculation.

Transmission through oral sex is much less probable, but still definitely possible.

Anal sex is the most risky method of transmission, since it causes micro-tears, and sometimes larger tears in the rectal epithelium, causing bleeding, and allowing a direct route for the virus to enter circulation while bypassing surface defenses.

Transmission is more likely to go from male to female, but is most definitely possible both ways

the virus lives in white blood cells which are found in most body fluids, mucus in the intestines and anus, vaginal secretions, semen, and even saliva if you are a secreter which a lot of people are. When a man gets an erection fluid is secreted to clear the urine out of the penis. That secretion that is there even before sex can contain the virus. You can definately get it from oral sex because the secretions are there. Not so much if the person that has it is giving you oral sex though. You are not highly likely to contract it from saliva but there is still a descent risk there.

AIDS is caused by HIV(Human Immunodeficiency Virus) which can be found in body fluids such as Blood, Semen, Vaginal Secretion and Breast milk.

Transmission (that it must get into the bloodstream),

* Unprotected sexual contact
* Direct blood contact, including injection drug needles, blood transfusions, accidents in health care settings or certain blood products
* Mother to baby (before or during birth, or through breast milk)

Good question, at least u are interested in knowing because ignorance is not always a bliss especially knowing about this fatal preventable diseases. If u want to read more, go to the site i listed below. very informative.

Any body fluid can contain the HIV virus. Other STDs are more limited to the genital area, but they can be carried orally if you have had oral sex.

Don't you read anything? The aids virus is carried in bodily fluids -- blood, sperm, vaginal secretions, but apparently not in saliva. The infection will spread by use of common hypo-needles, (spreading around a needle with drugs in it, and each person injecting) thru sex, (sperm in the vaginal or oral area where there is a slight injury to the gums or vaginal tissue) and rectally, with gay men, (because anal sex is abrasive to rectal tissue, causing an injury to that tissue where the virus can enter). The virus, however is very fragile, living only about 72 seconds outside the body, so you can't get it off of a toilet seat, nor from a toothbrush that has been lying around for awhile. And it is not spread by insects, simply because it cannot live in the gut of an insect..... Get it now???

Unprotected sex; sharing personal items like toothbrushes, cups, nail clippers, things of that nature.

UNPROTECTED SEX...... PERIOD!!!

Through sexual intercourse and blood getting in an open wound from an infected person are the primary ways.Orally you could if you had a sore in your mouth, anal, yes! It is not airborne. It is easier for a female to contract it than a male.(through intercourse.)If an infected person uses drugs, via needle and you share you have a huge chance of getting it.STD's sexual intercourse, you don't get crabs from a toliet seat.Crabs isn't a disease, they are bugs. They like warm places and soft hairy places.

........with injections and sex.....its in the blood.....and now they know it hides insidiously in the stomach walls to attack at will......sort of like rabies

It can travel throught semen or any secretions for that matter.....if the other person is already affected.
