Serious Question: Sleeping around and Aids......????

Serious question...

How easy do you think it is to contract the Aids virus? I'm asking this because I know a girl who has had at least 3 different sexual partners a year over the past 5 years. That's 15 different people maybe even more. She does not use condoms and she's also a diabetic and takes insulin shots. She also has Herpes and when she was telling me about it she said "oh everybody gets Herpes it's nothing to worry about". I have tried talking to her about being safe but she doesnt want to hear it. She says her lifestyle is normal and that I'm making a big deal out of nothing.

What do you think of her chances of getting the Aids virus?

She sounds as if she believes 'it won't happen to me' and probably will continue to do so until she picks up something more serious. I can understand why you are concerned about her, but until she is mentally ready to face up to the risks she is taking I doubt that she will listen.

Some people find risk taking adds to their enjoyment. All I think you can do is express your concerns, but try not to alienate her at the same time. Try not to sound judgemental as this sometimes has the opposite effect.

Her chances are much higher than some one who uses condom. If she is having an outbreak of the Herpes, she has a greater risk.

It only takes one time to become infected, and a female is at greater risk because the semen, which would hold the HIV virus can live in the vagina up to 5 days.

Sounds like she has a death wish, or at least daring death to come knock at her door. She is engaging in risky behavior that is not safe for her or her partners, especially if she does not listen to you. Herpes is not something everyone gets. She is fooling herself if she believes that. Does she get checked regularly for HIV or other STD's? Maybe you can show her some drastic pictures of other kinds of STD's in the later stages of the disease, like syphilis or gonorrhea. Her behavior will eventually lead to these diseases, which can actually, in the short-term, be worse than HIV.

15 different sexual partners over a period of 5 years.Any physical contact with a person without a condom could be dangerous.One should always take precautions in order to be on the safer side and to top it,if she has herpes that does indeed put her at a greater risk of aquiring aids,Be careful and tell her to get tested as soon as possible.!!
