What is the full name of the virus that causes aids?

some viruses cause symptoms immediately, soes the aids fall into this caegory?

The name of the virus is Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV. It is the single known cause of the Aquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or AIDS.

HIV is a retrovirus, meaning it has an enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which turns its genetic strand of RNA into DNA. RNA is made by copying DNA, but HIV works backwards. It's named a retrovirus since retro means "backwards."

It takes time, but once the virus infects one cell, it begins producing more HIV viruses to go and infect other cells. The cell this virus targets is the Helper T-cell.

Antiviral medications work at first, but because it can mutate so quickly, that it develops a resistance to them. In short, there is no cure.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)

HIV, Human Immunodeficiency Virus. it does not cause symptoms immediately, it can be classified as a lentavirus--which means slow virus.

H.I.V. stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV is the cause of AIDS, or Aquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. The virus is retrovirus, meaning it infects cells as single-stranded RNA, or ribonucleic acid. You may have learned in biology that "DNA" or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the "blueprint of life." DNA contains all of our genes. Cells copy, or transcribe, DNA into RNA which is then translated into proteins. In the case of HIV, the RNA comes along with a protein that reverse-transcribes, or copies, the RNA back into DNA which is then copied to make more RNAs for creating viral particles.

The virus specifically infects certain populations of T cells in the body. T cells are an important part of our immune system. They play a critical role in helping your body fight off disease-causing organisms. By destroying these T cells, an person infected with HIV eventually loses much of their immune function, and so becomes immunodeficient, and susceptible to many kinds of infections that would not normally affect a healthy person
