How long does it take to identify the AIDS virus?

How long does it take to identify the AIDS virus?

As little as 2-4 months and as much as 10 years.

umm.....it can take a lot of time as well as u can identify it in a short time....well..it starts with flu n fever like symptoms....after which u'll b fine...n then the 2nd phase of symptoms can appear after a week..or year....or in most of the cases..yearssss...

Keep in mind that while most blood tests are able to detect HIV infection within four weeks of initial exposure, it can sometimes take as long as three to six months for antibodies to reach detectable levels. The CDC currently recommends testing six months after the last possible exposure to HIV.

the idenify the Aids virus, i akes minimum 2 months, i can be identified by a manner called "ELISA", if they find the HIV virus they use anoher manner caled "Western Blot" to be sure that he virus does exist in someone's blood!

There are no particular simptons and can about it through blood test with in a day.

A new test to detect the AIDS virus even before the body's defenses begin to respond may enable doctors to diagnose the disease earlier, track its course with greater certainty and better monitor therapy, researchers report.
Screening tests for AIDS now rely on detecting antibodies produced by the body's immune system as it battles AIDS virus infection. But it can take as long as six months after exposure to the AIDS virus for antibodies to develop, authorities say.

The new test detects the presence in blood of an AIDS virus antigen, a protein component of the virus. And it does so before antibodies develop. Dr. Harold Kessler of Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago reported that the antigen test correctly diagnosed AIDS virus infections in six patients in the early stages of infection.

The six patients were suffering from what is known as acute HIV infection, a short-term viral syndrome with symptoms similar to flu. HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus, is the technical name for the AIDS virus.

However, the AIDS antigen test is not likely to replace antibody testing, because it is not as sensitive

Hi,
It takes 48 hrs from the time the blood is took. However even if you get a negative result, it can often be a false reading,as the anti bodies for the illness might not show yet so they ask you to come back in 3 months its called the window perion, as if you have contracted it, it gives the discease time to give a positive result.
Its a frustrating time, the only way to prevent it is to have protected sex, with a strong condom if you arent in a steady trusting r/ship, but often even if you are there's no guaruntee that either one of you wont find youre self in a at risk situation.
Hope this helped,
kind wishes
chelle.
