First off.... HIV is the retrovirus that an individual can be infected with. AIDS is a classification of advanced HIV infection when the immune system no longer has the ability to fend off opportunistic infections.

Magic Johnson, Arthur Ashe, and Greg Louganis are all good examples of celebrities that disclosed their status. Liberace, Rock Hudson, and Freddy Mercury are good examples of celebrities that denied having HIV/AIDS until the day they died.

Why? There is still a social stigma attached to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Discrimination occurs for some people on a daily basis because there is still a large percentage of the World population that remain ignorant about the facts of HIV/AIDS. Ask questions. seek answers, get educated about the largest pandemic this planet has seen and show compassion for those who suffer from its effects.
