Who actually spreads the AIDS virus? |
Is it gays? Heterosexuals? Monkeys? Actually, I'm just pointing out that if everyone acted as God told us to act, there would be no spreading of HIV/AIDS. Maybe everyone should think about that when they are arguing about whose fault it is. I don't believe that God said, "Let there be aids." I don't believe that he sent aids to kill the wicked. If that were true, no one would be alive today. Wish that were true, but it isn't Report It Anyone who has it. Regardless of their sexual preference. People with AIDS. Yes, those babies in Africa are evil little b@stards. Kill 'em all, I say! People who are infected and don't exercise caution and common sense spread the disease. Anyone who has unprotected sex, shares needles, or receives tainted blood can potentially pick up, or spread, AIDS and other diseases.. Well it obviously must be a judgment of God...there really isn't any other explanation... Excuse me, but the HIV virus (not AIDS) can be spread through heterosexual sex (as in Africa) or through needle-sharing (the cause of many new cases among inner city men and women). You ARE proposing to speak for God--I will only say that certain behaviors lead to certain medical outcomes. We don't know that it is a "punishment from God" and you shouldn't either if you are a true Christian. Heart disease and diabetes are leading killers. Even if you follow your god's laws, AIDS can be spread. It can be spread through contact with bodily fluids. It can be spread between spouses. It can be passed on to babies. It can be passed via dirty needles (no commandment against drug taking). HIV is a blood-borne illness that started as mutating virus in non-human primates (monkeys). It like hundreds of other viruses (like avian flu and the flu viruses that come around every year and mumps, measles, small pox, etc), started out as viruses within animals that mutated to the extent that the human immune system was unable to avoid infection by them. The virus is transmitted when the infected blood or body fluids of one person is absorbed through cuts and abrasions into circulatory system of another person. For this reason, sexual contact with an infected person and contaminated needle-stick wounds (whether accidental or intentional) are the easiest routes of transmission. In most places of the world, HIV is a heterosexually transmitted disease. In the US, it is seen more commonly in the male homosexual community because the first persons infected in the US were homosexual--but this has nothing to do with God or moral questions about sexual preferences. It is purely a matter related to the complexities of epidemiological patterns. Indeed, the epidemiology is changing, and it is more or less being managed in the homosexual community while incidence is increasing among African Americans in general. The National Institutes of Health recently sent a statement out on this. |
