What percentage of the African American community believes that AIDS was created and spread by whites?

After hearing about Rev. Wright's messages (one being that AIDS is some sort of weapon being used to kill blacks), I thought that I'd ask this question. I would like to know.

One might assume that it's a small percentage of blacks (like the small percentage of whites in groups like the KKK), but I'm now hearing that many black churches around the country preach similar messages. How common is this idea?

I can assure you that AIDS was not designed by whites. It was a naturally-occurring virus that was originally found in several species of monkeys indigenous to Africa. AIDS spread to humans by the people either eating them as food or through bites or other contact. From there, it was sexual.

Plenty of whites die of AIDS. The idea that whites developed AIDS as a weapon against blacks in so deeply paranoid and insane that I don't know what else to say on the subject. I've even heard paranoid theories that AIDS is secretly put into vending machines in black neighborhoods.

I think there are plenty of ridiculous theories out there about AIDS--such as the one where it all started when someone had sex with a monkey--and I don't believe any of them. Nor have I been to a church that preaches that...but I always tend to look for an open-minded church that doesn't preach stuff like that.

I'm sure the percentage of black people that believe such a ludicrous theory is minimal. There are always a small percentage of people that believe crazy ideas.

My best friend鈥檚 dad believes that there's a secret black organization that wants every white woman to be impregnated by a black man so the white "race" will be ended. Ludicrous, but there are a few crazies out that that believe it.

I can't believe any intelligent person would believe something so silly. 2D
