How Scientifically Plausible Are Zombies?

The kind that starts off with a live victim being infected with an aggressive virus, eventually killing the host then reanimating it with only one desire - to feast on flesh.

I heard one certain AIDS trial vaccine did close to that, with the trialee waking up with no capability for cognitive thought, just the drive to eat. Not sure if that was a hoax though.

Anything is possible. Rabies has symptoms that are very close to what people would consider a "zombie". Unfortunately the survival rate of rabies is nearly nonexistant. It is certainly plausible for there to be a virus with a side effect of "flesh-eating"... however I don't think death and reanimation would be part of it.... I think the flesh-eating part would come BEFORE death, and once the host was dead... that's it.

The zombies in "The Night of the Living Dead" is not scientific. However the zombies in voodoo are plausible using drugs or toxins as found in plants or fish can put a person in a trance like state making it easy to get cheap labor.

Hey anything is possible...I think that "I am Legend" helped show us that...I mean meds can cause bad effects to happen sometimes.
