What cell does aids trick? |
I mean how does the virus trick the immune system into not fighting it off? HIV is a virus, and all viruses have a preferred cell type they like to infect. In the case of HIV, helper T cells are the preferred cell. These cells can be thought of as an orchestrator of sorts for the entire immune system. As the virus infection progresses, it destroys these cells, impairing the bodies ability to alert the other components of the immune system that are normally responsible combating infection. In effect, HIV kills the messenger, so that the rest of the body hardly knows its infected . It kills your white blood cells i do believe and that is whats required to fight infection |
