Can you catch aids by kissing someone?

can you can the aids virus by kssing someone and if the answer is yes how could a doctor explain to a patient they just got aids by kissing someone do i get credit for good answer

HIV is not present in saliva. The only way you could get HIV from kissing somebody is if you both have open cuts or sores in your mouth.

Actually HIV is present in saliva but not in a sufficient amount to cause an infection. Primary cause of HIV infection is MSM (men having sex with men) followed by injecting drug users. There may have been cases involving kissing but I am not aware of any.
Generally the other answers are correct. Actually it also takes a lot of the virus to cause an infection. If you were accidentally stabbed with an HIV infected needle the odds of becoming infected are only about 1 in 300. Hepatitis B on the other hand would result in about 1 in 35. There is a vaccine for Hep B but NOT HIV !! The mouth, eyes and nose are primary portals of entry due to mucous membranes, small cuts in gums, tongue, etc. Hep B virus can live in the dried state for up to a week or more. HIV (erroneously called the AIDS virus) can only survive in fresh blood and is actually quite delicate. There has to be a sufficient amount of the virus in any amount that is transferred and it has to enter the body in such a way as to get into the blood system so it can reproduce. (AIDS is actually diagnosed by having one or more of about 23 conditions or diseases.).

No, unless the person you kissed has blood in their mouth from a minor cut etc. and the blood leaks into your mouth..

If you have a cut in your mouth, the blood from your partner can seek into your cut.. In result, if the person has aids, you can catch it in this situation.

It has not been proven that you can catch aids by kissing someone. Normally it is only by sexually contact. There is only one way to truly protect your self from Aids is to wear condoms (if you are a guy) with spermicide (normally for females). Herpes can be caught by kissing but only in mild forms (cold sores).

Only if you were open mouth kissing someone with HIV and bleeding gums. You would have to do it for a while. I don't think anyone has managed.

No usually you get it from
blood tranfusions
mother to child
drug us and sharing the same needle ect.

No. You can't not unless you're spitting blood into each others mouths.

Supposedly not but lets say yes to be on the safe side.

NO.
hope this helps
