Question about spyware, viruses and pop-ups??

Ok so my computer's desktop changed from my wallpaper to a blue sceen that says "Warning spyware has been detected on your PC" and a link is on the desktop. It goes here: http://windows-privacy-protection.com/?a...

And every few minutes a random pop-ups come up and I can't close them. When I try it just makes a sound and does nothing. Also when I try to open my Task Manager, it says "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator" I'm the only user on this computer aren't I the administratior?

What can I do to solves these problems? Is there a free Anti-Virus type program I can download? I can't afford to buy a new one, but is there a good free anti-virus? And if that's not the problem, what else can I do?

It covers all of the tools you may need to get rid of spyware, adware, malware (and viruses/trojans). It also importantly explains the best approach to do so, e.g. when/how to use Safe Mode, to turn off System Restore so the infection is not restored. The guide also explains advance steps such as creating a bootable "live" CD so your Windows files are not locked and infections can be removed as well as how to slave your hard drive so the OS isn't running.
