Couldn't you beat AIDS by.........?

Putting people in airtight suits and supplying them pure oxygen not allowing them to come in contact with things such as the common cold or bacterias/viruses that cause pneumonia.

Couldn't a special suit be made comfortable and possibly give them an airtight, filtered ventilation living quarters which would be extremely clean of germs and bacterias?

I know it would cost lots of money but for people with money couldnt they do this?

I'm saying this because most of the time simple colds and viruses/bacterias finish off AIDS victims, and the actual virus doesn't kill them, it's the little things like pneumonia or bronchitis or silly things healthy people can beat very easily.

It may be the stupidest idea in the world but wouldn't it possibly buy someone a few more years in the end stages of their disease?

Yah you are right. I know there are bacteria all over peoples bodies. I'm just speaking about protecting against bacteria and illnesses caught from other people.

Also maybe some sort of special sanitation/shower type thing could do a decent job of getting rid of the outside bacteria on the skin and anus and a good mouth wash/teeth brush could keep germs in the mouth at bay.

I know no one would ever wear it unelss it was comfortable and didn't interfere with their life too much.

But i'm speaking about when peoples immune systems start failing so much that they start to have trouble fighting things....this is when they would start treatment with the suit and airtight living quarters.

For 10--15-20 years they would be fine without it but when things started to go downhill this type of thing may buy them another 10 since the death is usually from simple germs caught from other people not themselves.....

Most of the opportunistic infections (AIDS-defining illnesses) that people with advanced HIV disease get are from viruses, bacteria, and other organisms that they ALREADY have inside their body. Things like PCP (pneumonia), CMV, Histoplasmosis, etc, etc..

Some of these enter our bodies while still children, others when we become sexually active. It isn't until a person's immune system becomes severely deficient that these infections begin to multiply and cause disease. Until that point, a healthy immune system would keep these in check

No you do not sound retarded but no one would do it. imagine never being able to touch someone or be held or experience anything, it wouldnt be worth it to people. and also your body contains millions of bacteria of its own, in your mouth, intestine, stomach, skin, everywhere, bacteria that are considered "normal" flora. eventually the person would succumb to these bacteria and you couldnt do anything about it, you can t kill all the bacteria or you would die , some of it you have to have.

you do have a heart for thinking this idea, however as you said it will cost alot of money and resources to give people air tight suits. even if the aids victim wears the suit the virus will finish him off anyway one way or another. it would actually cost less money to avoid the disease than trying to kill it really. for sex, by a condom, for blood transfusion, use x rays to find the disease, for sharing razors, use your OWN razors. those are the only ways to get aids.

I doubt it, but there is nothing wrong with trying.

The only way you can even have a chance at beating HIV, not aids (they havn't gotten that far yet). is being a part of a clinical study medical scientists started this past february. If doctors can catch HIV at a certain stage in the very beginning they can do something, I don't remember if it's a medicine or what. But it makes it so your body is immune to the cells.. I don't remember all the specifics. But if you went to scientific america's website and looked at the archives or googled it you might be able to find what I'm talking about. So far it's been curable at that very stage in HIV. They are actually weakening the immune system to do this, not trying to strengthen it with all kinds of medicines.
