Would you be terrified if the aids virus was indeed man made?

I listened to a lecture in my university about how the aid's virus appears to be man made. I also heard stories about someone who was injected with the aid's virus by a random stranger while he were sitting in a bar and now I'm afraid to leave the house.

Sounds like a lot of urban legends. Every time you leave the house you have the opportunity of bad things happening. Odds are you'd be killed by lightning before you'd be injected by AIDS from a random stranger. I don't believe AIDS is man made by intention, but more likely mutated in humans. Two very different things. Remember, lectures are the speakers opinions and aren't facts.

It's not worrisome that it might be man-made. Plenty of stuff out there that is man-made that is harmful.

It is somewhat more worrisome that it is man-spread...

Doesn't matter what the manner of weapon is, if it's deadly and it can be spread, it's scary.

I assisted an arrest once and it was certainly an eye opener when the real cops showed up and the first thing they asked was 'do you have any stickies'... Using needles as weapons is quite common back in Victoria where I grew up.

However, if they didn't have needles to scare people off, they would just have a knife or something else...

FWIW, I think there's an entry on snopes regarding the 'random victim of aids' which calls falsehood... It's entirely possible, but not really something you should spend your time worrying about.

This story crops up regularly in gossip circles. It is essentially a hoax story that for some reason continues to do the rounds, especially through chain emails.
Although such a circumstance would in theory be possible, its so unlikely that you'd get AIDS in this manner. If someone was going to stab you to cause harm, there are far more effective ways than that.

Every day you could be hit by a car; walking at night leaves you vulnerable to mugging; travelling on trains, watch out for crashes; craches happen even more if you drive a car; Fly, well you can figure that out for yourself. In the end there are a few hundred things a day that can kill us, so chill.

then actually GOING outside and going to a bar and having a couple of drinks.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. If AIDS is man-made, it is the world's best kept secret. If you can contract it by sitting in a bar, it's the end of the world as we know it. So, do a bit more research, then get out and take on the day.

years ago in Africa , the world health org. over inoculated a tribe, lost all immunity at that time, it is reported that it was the start of the aids epidemic ,

i wouldn't let it get to your head. It is not a proven fact, and even if it was man made, it wouldn't be the first time that things like that have happend. Just be glad it's not airborne and practice safe sex

i doubt that is even true the aids virus only survies out side the body for 3 seconds so i doubt it would even affect you if it came into contact with you and a needle

if it was indeed man made (to control population) scientists would have made an antidote just in case
