How can we deal with all the illegals who are bringing in TB, Hepatitis C, AIDS and Leprosy?

I've read that TB is sharply on the rise, as well as Hepatitis and Leprosy with the illegals coming in. I'm really concerned as all are highly communicable. TB can be spread with a cough or a sneeze. People who apply for entry to our country need to undergo medical screening and be free from these viruses, or they are denied. This is going to be a massive problem in the near future....on another note, treating all these carriers will break the backs of our hospital system...how many illegals can a hospital treat....knowing that they'll never see a dime of payment, before the hospital goes broke. How soon before our social system, paid for by our taxes, get tapped out?

I am from the UK and travel extensively with my job.
Three years ago, I contracted full-blown TB and was very ill for 18 months.
After undergoing extensive treatment on a monthly basis, I was cleared.
My consultant told me that cases in the UK had risen "dramatically" in the previous two years.
He asked me about travel and said "off the record" that it was due to the amount of time I spent hanging around airports because of new security measures.
Our laws are very strict about contagious diseases and I was kept in quarantine for two weeks.
All my family. close friends and daily work colleagues had to go for a scan. Fortunately, they were all clear.
But I do agree with you. Not just with illegal immigrants. I think that all international travellers should undergo a scan before departure.
It is all down to time and money!

Our backs r already being broke.Just research how many hospitals had to shutdown because of non-payment from illegals.Now when Citezens need to be rushed to hospital.....whats 10 minutes more drive time?As long as Illegals continue to abuse our system liberal remain happy.Thats what really matters right?

You are so stupid those diseases don't come from just Mexicans or Mexico. What about all the African Americans that originated AIDS and what about all the African Americans and Caucasian Americans that are spreading Hepatitis. What about the Asian bird flu??? You must be very ignorant.

We have to treat those with those diseases, however. You don't want the diseases spreading, do you?

I agree that one of the big problems with illegal immigration is that illegal immigrants are not screened. They are not screened for health, so we have resistant TB back after having eradicating it. They aren't screened for terrorists and we had Atta coming illegally into the country. They aren't screened for criminal backgrounds, and we have a disproportionate number of criminals coming across according to statistics.

How can we deal with it? Secure the border. Write to / email your Congressmen.

Don't beleive everything you read.They do have vaccinations in Mexico an S.America.And there are also diseases here.

get a life! millions of americans have aides, arizona is full of tb,the drug addicts control the hepititus problem, leprosy???a lot of americans don't pay their bills,much less their hospital bills,child support being the most underpaid- and we all pay taxes,one way or another,but the illegals don't file for a tax return, leaving that money in our system,they don't take the chance of getting caught. take some prozac and call your doc in the morning

so many ppl that have responded r rite, we americans have all of these same diseases n spread them pretty well w/ or w/o illegal immigrants, what do u suggest we do. u really think that we should close our borders. Close the borders to America, one of the greatest countries to live in despite the problems she has (where r u going to go that does not have problems) if americas borders r to be closed off to immigrants then we should all take off n leave for another country, honestly this country does not even belong to us. our forefathers forefathers immigrated here from european n spanish countries n practically slautghterd the native americans, took their land n gave them sum crappy reservations to live on after they promised to cut off all ties to their tribes.

As for everyone else, these diseases are spreading because people aren't getting properly immunized or worse still neglecting their children's immunizations were are often FREE in most states. A disease can be carried by one person, but it's spread only because of a lack of proper treatment. If you 'll check, you'll see that the victims of these diseases are from all nationalities so unless the disease can be better contained through our own population we'll wind up with a pandemic of something simple like the mumps or TB.
