If AIDS is a blood borne disease, can't someone infected get blood transfusions over and over and live with it |
Of course the disease will come back since viruses would always be left behind, but can't someone just have blood transfusions every so often, in order to get rid of the symptoms for a while? Even though the AIDS virus can be found in the blood, the virus attacks the immune system, not the blood cells. Replacing the blood cells wouldn't "get rid of the symptoms" any more than changing the oil on a car with no gas would make it run. The circulatory and immune systems are two separate (though closely related) systems. |
