2 years a go my brother was diagnised of the killer disease AIDS but his wife is negative, how possible is it? |
Currently my brother is critically sick and yet his wife is healthy and according to the doctor she doesnt carry the deadly virus, i dont understant this given that they have 4 kids and the last born was born 8 months a go and too she is negative! can some one enlighten me on this.If the've had unprotected sex all that time why did it not get transfered to the wife and the newborn? Hi Album, Here's a great site where you can ask your question. HIV doctors respond back to you. From what i understand, there are a very few people who can not get HIV/AIDS. Something to do with there immune systems. I can't remember where I read this. HIV/AIDS is only assumed to be sexually transmitted. The sexual transmision of HIV/AIDS has NEVER been proven. Re: the above answer: Some individuals - including the HIV negative partners of people infected with HIV - develop HIV-specific immunity, which is associated with protection against infection. HIV-specific T cells seem particularly important in this immune protection. HIV vaccines that are currently being studied to see if they can prevent HIV infection are designed to induce of HIV-specific T cell responses. A certain portion of the population CANNOT get aids. They have a mutant gene as part of their genetic make up. These are the ancestors of people from Europe who had survived the black plague of centries ago. Yes, people who are on medicines are dying of liver problems beacuse they are LIVING LONGER. They usually have Hepatitis c or b and before AIDS would have killed them, but now they live for 30 years or more so Hepatitis C or B can give them cirrhosis. (So, this is only if you have hepb or C). The meds carry liver complications ( a few of them) but in only a low percentage of patients. nowadays, your brother could take meds and live a normal life. even if he is very resistant to meds, there are new meds that can save his life. Some people can't get HIv, it's a small percentage. The transmission of HIv is not 100% and probably your brother uses condoms most of the time. If he's not, he should start doing it. Because the transmission may happen any day. |
