The reason it's so difficult for scientists to develop a cure for AIDS is that the Human Immunodeficiency Virus mutates very rapidly. So, technically they can create an innocuation for HIV but it will be useless because by the time it's been developed, HIV will have already mutated and the antigen signature will be changed. In other words, your immune system won't recoginize it as the HIV in the innocuation and will not be ready to battle it.

HIV is a virus, and there are no known cures for any viruses, including the common cold, to this day.

There are plenty of ways to treat HIV, to the point that you can go from having a positive test to a negative test, but having a negative test does not mean that you are cured, it just means that you are keeping the virus under control.

HIV tests use the "western blot" which means they test for antibodies. Now, there are 2 tests done, if the first tests positive. The first test loks for the antibodies, but because the influenza virus's antibodies are so similar, there must be another test done, to make sure that the person does not have HIV. The secod test uses diagramming and mathematics, to determine if the antibody is indeed HIV.

Anyways, a virus is not curable, as far as I've seen. They generally go away, but the thing is, you retain the antibodies, once you get the virus, even when the symptoms pass. Well, you can only pass the virus around when you have symptoms, generally, like with the common cold, but even after it passes, you still retain the antibodies, as a defense mechanism from gettng sick from it again.
Herpes is a virus also, and there is no cure for it, because it is a virus.
The thing that bothers me abot HIV is it is so much different from other viruses, in the sense that you dont need to be having any symptoms, in order to pass it along to someone else. Its the only virus in the world that you can pass along to other people, even without any symptoms. Well, its not as eas to transmit, also, except through blood and other bodily fluids.

I had a professor in college that worked for the government. He said that if we knew what they knew, that the medical industry would be broke. That said, they probably have a set cure for cancer besides chemo, and they probably have all these cures for all these diseases, including AIDS.

But with the current Medication to stay healthy ,a good and healthy Diet, no smoking and Alcohol use and can prolong the Disease for many years, 20 and even more are possible
