What is the main cause of AIDS? |
How come there wasn't the HIV virus like 50 years ago? The origin remains unknown but first appeared in America in the 1960's. HIV which is the virus that leads to death from AIDS diseases (AIDS itself does not kill, opportunistic diseases take advantage of the reduced immune system) is spread through unprotected sexual intercourse, shared introvenus drug use or other direct blood related sharing. HIV is a very weak virus that cannot live for long outside a human body, it is not air born nor can it be spread through saliva such as kissing. The CD4+ cells are low and the body cannot defend itself against infections.The reducing of CD4+ cells is caused by the HIV Virus because your nose is too big . please choose my answer jleslie gave you a really good answer. All I'll add is that viruses can mutate very, very quickly. There probably *was* HIV 50 years ago but perhaps it was contained in remote villages and went undiagnosed or perhaps it hadn't made the jump to humans just yet. We just don't know. The main and only cause of accuired immunodeficiency disease is infection with the HIV virus. |
