Is AIDS a disease? |
damnit, i've been calling it a disease my whole essy. is it right or should i just say virus? j_rok std-good point thanks AIDS is a collection of symptoms and infections resulting from the specific damage to the immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in humans. It is usually ok to call AIDS a disease. However, it is not ok to call AIDS a virus, or to say someone who is infected with HIV has AIDS, or someone is infected with AIDS, etc. HIV is the virus that can cause AIDS. Just because some has HIV, doesn't mean they have AIDS. To be classified as having AIDS, a person must meet a very specific definitions. The CDC definition of AIDS includes all HIV positive people with a CD4+ T cell count below 200 per 碌L of blood or 14% of all lymphocytes I dont think it matters, when you say aids people know what your talking about. I would call it a disease though. STD virus it is a virus. . . antiobiotics can not cure it. . . no unless you are black Its considered a virus. it's damn near the same thing...it doesn't matter what u call it if u have it ur fu**ed.i hear some people say a monkey on your back or the package...it all means disease and the doctors might use virus...what eva floats ya boat ya digg AIDS is a disease of the immune system, caused by a virus called HIV. nope its a virus! AIDS is not a disease. It is the end stage of HIV. It is caused by retro virus which targets the monocytes and lymphocytes. AIDS is a syndrome. It's okay to call it a disease. HIV is a virus. And then there's HIV infection which is...well..an infection. |
