Do you think scientists will ever find a cure?

the question is will scientists ever find a cure for the Aids virus
why or why not?

technically speaking if the government can put money into research i am fairly certain a cure could be around the corner several woman from the ivory coast have become immune to the disease as well as i personally know one woman who's husband was infected she tried for years and never contracted AIDS i know it seems weird but she loved him very much and wanted to die with him ......they are still alive and kicking both of them she is AIDS and HIV free i would think they should study these people who have these natural immunities to see what is so different about them and develop a cure if me an average Jane knows about this i am sure scientists do as well and are working on it

probably one day, but i'll never live to see it.........

not it selling pills is more profitable
supposidly there already is a cure

they probably already have, but the pharmaceutical companies are making co much money on the medication for aids, that they won't release the info, same goes for cancer

Honestly, I think they have but they are hiding it since they are getting so much money from the people who do have aids for their treatment and what not. Look at Magic Johnson, he has aids but do you hear about him being sick or anything like that, I think he had paid a lot of money to get the cure. But I could be wrong, just a thought...

my answer is the same as playaninstru

yes i think

not a cure, their not looking for that. maybe addictive drug that hides a few symptoms. government funded projects aren't int rested in a cure, they are in it for a profit.

i bet they already have .

Yes they will be find it because nothing is impossible.

If humanity would manage not to wipe itself out,
everything is possible.
And for those that say that there is a hidden cure for AIDS - check what this virus is all about.
It mutates so fast that in the SAME individual has several dozen versions of virus in his
lifetime (problem to make vaccine).
It lives and thrives in the same system that should locate and destroy him.
It allows host to live normally for a certain period of time and so to be transferred further.

Yes but it will take time because viruses adapt fast.

At this point, it is highly doubful. We do not have the ability to CURE even ONE virus disease....NONE! Cure implies the irradication of the virus from the body...hasn't happened yet. With every viral infection, the symptoms flare up, the body gets to work and antibodies bring the viral infection down to a point that the symptoms disappear. But there is no reason to believe that we do not carry that virus in some degree for the rest of our lives. Mumps virus goes to sleep in the pancreas where it can be reactivated and cause sudden onset Type I diabetes by wiping out the Isles of Langerhan all but overnight. Chickenpox herpes virus goes to sleep, but lives in nerve endings, and when the immune system is lowered, can cause serious outbreaks of Shingles...very painful. Herpes Simplex lives in nerve endings and erupts from time to time as cold sores or genital herpes. The best treatment for all virus is to NOT get the infection in the first place. Science has made tremendous strides in vaccines..vaccines jump-start the immune system so we do not get an active infection. HIV virus, so far, has been absolutely a horror story as to producing a vaccine...it mutates so rapidly that vaccines made today will be ineffective tomorrow. So far, the vaccines are aimed at the protein coat, the very thing that mutates so rapidly. We cannot make a vaccine that is aimed at the nucleic acid, for it would make antibodies to ALL nucleic acids and produce Lupis in our bodies...not a good trade off.

The virus will probably mutate into a benign form and become ubiquitous given enough time.

Like all medications retrovirals are patented so the company that holds the patents can recoup development costs. After a certain amount of time the patents run out and the company that invented the drug can no longer reap the profits exclusively.

There's no way a pharmaceutical company could keep a cure secret, there are too many people involved in the research, many of which would gladly blow any such secret for humanitarian reasons.

Most AIDS research gets some form of grant money from the government. Any research grants from the government come with the stipulation that ALL research findings be reported and that ALL facilities will be subject to oversight.

There'd be too much money and fame to be won by exposing such a secret for one to be kept for any length of time.

Yes, but it will take time. The people that think that a cure is being withheld for reasons of profit are ignoring the fact that people would probably pay a heck of a lot more for a cure than a treatment. The HIV virus is a complex RNA (or retro-) virus, and these are extremely complicated in the way the way they react within the human body. If you don't believe me, look up Human Immunodeficiency Virus at the Entrez, the Life Sciences search engine, and start reading. Good luck.
