Xbox360 Warranty?

I bought a 360 around Feb. of 2007. I lost the warranty info, so I never got to sign up for it. With this new extension that Microsoft is offering, is their anyway im covered? My friends 360's just caught the aids virus, also known as the red ring of death, so im nervous it may happen to me and i'll have to dish out more money to get it fixed. Also, since I bought it pretty recently, is it possible that this is a newer console and the problems were dealt with, for the most part atleast?

suposedly the "red ring of death" warrenty is covered for everyone...not jus those who have a warrenty program. But for the best answer you may want to call microsoft.
