Sacked today after HIV+ diagnosis in Australia?

I started seeing a guy a couple of months ago - just this Monday gone he found out he was HIV+ as soon as he told me (and no I havent been placed at risk - relationship still new and we have always decided to take it slow from friendship to relationship) anyway as soon as he told me I advised him that he wasnt under any obligation to tell his employer but he said he had already told them as he felt it was a responsible thing to do... 2 days later and he lost his job today and was told it was because of his status and on the separation certificate it says he lost his job because of health reasons (honestly I dont think this employer ever bothered watching Philidelphia with Tom Hanks) and I dont think he bothered checking into the laws... anyway my partner wants me to help him fight this through the legal system - Im going to ring watch dog and anti-discrimination board -- is there anywhere else I should contact? He is still numb about it all so hence my helping out with research.

that sucks, we were kicked out of a house ( in cairns ) because my wife has leaukamia, and the owner didnt want someone in the house dieing, when it went to court, the judge didnt see any thing wrong, i used to have a crew member that had hep b, and i didnt sack him, as long as you do your work, illness in any form shouldnt matter, i hope you get some where with that, why dodnt you get in contact with today tonight show, or some thing similar, they usually get some responce, if only to embarrase the employer

In the US this would be illegal, by Federal Law. Surely, likewise Downunder.

Contact your equivalent of the Civil Liberties Union. Contact an AIDS organization for guidance. Grab 'em by the cajoles and squeeze.
