The short answer is yes you can acquire HIV from oral sex.
The longer answer.....

While oral sex is considered a low risk activity (meaning it IS posssible to transmit with this activity AND a small percentage of people with HIV have acquired it in this way) HIV transmission can still occur.

HIV+ semen or vaginal fluids (if infected with HIV) must not only enter your mouth, but also find a way into your blood stream. So, if you have any cuts, sores, bleeding gums, lesions (STIs etc.,.), burns, or recent dental work you would be at a higher risk for HIV infection as they can be portals into your blood stream. The rule of thumb is to wait 30min-2 hours after brushing, flossing your teeth before engaging in oral sex and give yourself plenty of time to heal after invasive dental work/surgery. If you are performing oral sex on a woman during her menstrual cycle, the presence of blood greatly increases the risk of infection as blood contains more HIV than vaginal fluids or semen.
It is safer to not take any semen/vaginal fluids in the mouth....be careful because pre-ejaculatory fluid can also contain HIV.
It is even safer to use a condom/dental dam if you are engaging in oral sex (make sure to use either a non-lubricated condom/dental dam or a flavoured condom / dental dam.

Remember, oral sex can be a high risk activity with relation to other STIs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, or syphillis.

Yes you can. Also, if you are doing this type of activity for a living, don't floss first.
