Differentiate HIV & AIDS. How can an individual prevent from Acquiring such STD?

HIV is the virus. it stands for human immunodeficiency virus. AIDS, which stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is the disease. it breaks down the bodies immune system; its ability to fight off disease. it causes the body to turn on itself. basically, if a person has this disease, the common flu could kill him.

the treatments they have today are such that a person can live a fairly normal life for years after being diagnosed. magic johnson has had AIDS for several years and he's still kicking.

to prevent getting this disease, don't share dope needles. don't engage in unprotected sex. the surest form of prevention is to remain abstinate.

kinda long winded i know, but i hope it helps. take care.

HIV is the virus, AIDS is the disease that reults from being infected with the HIV virus. Prevention is simple, do not come in contact with bodily fluids from an infected person.

HIV Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Is the virus that you contract that leads to AIDS. Acquired immune deficiency syndrome. You don't die of HIV You die of AIDS. HIV is the Virus that Causes the Syndrome that Kills you. It totally wipes out your immune system making common things like the flu or a staff infection kill you because you no longer have the ability to fight it off. HIV is sexually transmitted most commonly. You can get it other ways such as contaminated blood in a transfusion. Sharing needles with infected persons or getting infected blood in an already open wound of yours.

HIV is the retrovirus called as Human immuno virus which causes the reverse transcription of RNA in which Viral RNA is tranformed into DNA and is incorporated into the host cell. This infects the host cell by multiplicating and breaks down the entire immune system of the man. Thus the body becomes susceptible to a number of diseases and this causes the condition known as AIDS.Thus AIDS is the disease and HIV is the causative virus.
Preventive measures:
1)Have just one sexual partner in life
2)Use condoms whenever you have sex
3)Do not use used needles
AIDS spreads through body fluids and hence avoid contact with it.
BUT ONE THING,REMEMBER THAT THOSE WHO HAVE AIDS ARE ALSO HUMANS.tHEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE.LET THEM.AIDS DOES NOT SPREAD THROUGH TOUCH.GIVE THEM THE COMFORT AND LOVE
