I did when I was 14....and that was 15 years ago. Aids originally came from Africa. People of all races,gays,straights,none of the above through blood transfusions,ect ect get and have aids. You cant get aids soley by being gay,you have to have unprotected sex with someone with aids. Or some other sexual act. I read a research study indicating,however,that overall homosexuals tend to be more promiscuous and less likely to use protection. This was only recent. The reason people associate homosexuality with AIDS is because of anal sex but thats really not true. In fact its very difficult for lesbians to transmit AIDS to each other.

Gay people are more suceptiable because there is more room for abrasion (tearing) in the anus then in a homogeneous relationship. You can't get AIDS just by being gay, you have to share bodily fluids with someone who does have AIDS.
Aids was spread by a gay man who picked it up in Africa and had many partners around the world. However, it could have started with any promiscuous person or drug user. The fact that it was a gay man was mostly a coincidence.
Because AIDS spread so quickly through the gay community, gay men should be especially cautious in choosing their partners. Then again, EVERYONE should be cautious. If someone is willing to have unprotected sex with you, then who else would they have had unprotected sex with???

As for why people think gay people "started" HIV: the virus entered the U.S. through the gay population.
