Why is homosexuality so associated with HIV/AIDS?

From my understanding, everybody can get hiv, so what's with the gay hiv jokes?

At first it was mostly just the gays and drug users getting HIV/AIDS, that was the way it was televised at first.

there is still the sterotype that it is a "gay" disease.

from my understanding it may have been a higher incidence rate in the gay community at one point because of people being in denial and not wanting to use condoms.

that is not the case now, i belive african amercian and latino women are the higher numbers now (dont quote me)

the jokes jokes and association are just born out of ignorance and hate. people are not educating themselves, because yes, ANYONE can get aids/hiv. it doesnt care how much money a person has or where they come from or what skin color they have

Because when Aids first was found it was more common in the gay community and the main public especially the homophobic community choose the gay community as an excuse to why the AIDS was around. But like any virus in time it has spread more rapidly amongst the heterosexual community now a days due to lack of knowledge or plan stupidity.

Anyone can get HIV/AIDS, men, women, children, gay, straight, bisexual, rich or poor.

I think people are so scared of HIV/AIDS, that they want to distance themselves from it, so they make jokes.
