Is there a difference between HIV and AIDS ? |
i am curious to know the difference between both of them, i have heard that it is not necessary that a person must have AIDS if he have HIV. yes hiv is a virus that may lead to aids but it doesnt necessarily always lead to aids...living with hiv is a little easier than with aids...there are less medicines....and what u heard was right only if a person is tested hiv+ , only then does he have aids hiv is the virus that causes aids and can turn into aids but doesn't have to .but if you have hiv you can give it to other people. AIDS is the terminal stage of a HIV positive person when his body immune system could not fend off any form of virus infection that caused the body to break down. Hiv is the virus that causes Aids. It is the final stage when your body cannot fight the infection anymore. However, look at Magic Johnson for instance, he has had hiv for over 15 years and is very healthy. HIV is the virus that may causes AIDS. HIV belongs to a subset of viruses called retroviruses or slow virus. |
