If two people with HIV or AIDS slept together unprotected, would that be ok?

Surely you can't catch HIV if you already have it. So is it ok?

There should be a club, like a dating service where people who have HIV and AIDS can meet up and go out. Because people who have it could never really have totally risk free sex with a non-carrier, the condom could always break. If they slept with another HIV carrier they wouldn't have to worry about explaining their illnesses to the other person or worrying about their reaction.

Well if you want to risk getting further complications why would you?

If you are HIV positive you must still protect yourself with a latex condom during sex with anyone. If you don't use a condom, you risk getting re-infected with HIV, which will cause the level of HIV to increase in your body; therefore, your immune system will be damaged faster. Report It

The only thing is that there are different strains. Some strains are worse than others.

The keyword here is "slept" if that's all they did, there is no problem.

This is dangerous. You could get a more resistant strain of the virus.

There isn't a reason that I know of why they can't but as the person before me stated, there are many different strains of the HIV and mixing and matching might end up causing the person with AIDS more pain.

And in theory what you suggest is interesting, but I personally think that this would only encourage promiscuity for most. Of course, there may be people who would find a stable relationship, but I think more than not would have the attitude of "I have AIDS, so why not sleep with as many people as I can before my time is up". That would be bad.

They should use protection. They definitely do not want to conceive a child or catch another STD.

I believe that such dating websites do exist. However, it is NOT recommended that those infected with HIV have unprotected sex with each other for two primary reasons.

1. There are different strains HIV-1 and HIV-2 and well as different sub-types of the virus (A/O). If one partner has one sub-type and another parnter has another sub-type you could acquire what's referred to as a super-infection. This means you have two different subtypes of the virus present. Since certain medications don't work against certain subtypes you would further limit the medications used to keep you healthy longer.

2. The goal of HIV drug therapy is to reduce the amount of detecable virus in your blood. If you continue to have unprotected sex with someone with HIV you continue to introduce more of the virus into your blood. Your immune system will loose it's ability to fight the disease quicker with higher levels of the virus present.

I always recommend that HIV positive partners engage in protect sex.

Actually I saw this thing on Oprah about HIV/AIDS and there were some women talking about it and they said if you have it and another person has it you should still protect yourself because you can contract the virus a second time.

No no i saw that on Ophrah show and they said you can get a double infection or a different kind of hiv you can go to her site and look up this weeks programs and they will have it on there. Do not take any chances.
