I learned that this is a popular misconception about the gay community. Anyone who has unprotected sex is at a risk of developing HIV and/or AIDS, not just gay people. Also, the gay community has taken steps to promote safe sex and reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS. If you look at statistics, it is not the gay community with the highest rates of HIV/AIDS.

The Hiv virus is spread thru bodily fluids. That said, when a man has sexual intercourse with another man unprotected, this puts them both at a huge risk for contracting the virus. The reason being is the anus is not made for this lil adventure ( my effort at humor) Therefore the anus rips very easily. This ripping exposes the inside of the body and at that moment if there is semen in the anus and it has any rips, the semen can and will get thru.

As far as women to women, this is difficult to spread for obvious reasons. Women to women contact doesnt usually involve any penetration.

Liberals waged a protracted campaign to convince gay men that the lifestyle of hundreds of sexual contacts a year, often anonymous and often with inappropriate people (drug addicts, felons etc.) and almost never with protection, was the very definition of gay and their right to engage in with no on able to judge (actually warn) them. The result of this was predictable....AIDS went from being a minor problem isolated to a few individuals to an explosive epidemic.

The thing that gays should know (and should be incredibly angry about) is this was done on purpose to them. The AIDS epidemic could have been avoided (hell, still could be avoided) by taking appropriate measures. Redefining what it means to be gay to, meeting a nice young man and settling down, is a good start. So, is wearing a damn condom.
