HIV to AIDS and BACK?

Can you go from HIV to AIDS, and then back to HIV again? or is it once you have aids your stuck with it.?

When your CD4 counts drops below 200 you are considered to have AIDS. The same when you develop certain diseases even if your CD 4 count is above 200.

With medication you could raise your CD4 above 200 or clear up the AIDS defining disease, but you would still have the syndrome known as AIDS.

you can't go back, and there's no cure

To have an AIDS diagnosis you have to have your T-cell count go below 200 or a lot of opportunistic infections that are difficult to clear up. If the T-cell goes below 200 it can go back up to 500, 800 or better, but it does not change back to HIV, it is now AIDS. So your kinda stuck with the label, but your health can improve, and that's the most important factor.

As for HIV to AIDS and then back to HIV. I'm afraid it doesn't happen. Once you have an AIDS defining illness, you have AIDS. People with AIDS can live a very long life.
