Is the church TOO SILENT about HIV/AIDS?

Watch this short YOUTUBE clip of Dr. J. Wright. People say a lot of negative things about this man. However, he has for many years been an advocate for issues such as HIV/AIDS.

Question for you;
1. Would such a radical act as this, be acceptable in your church? (I am not just speaking of whether or not if you would agree to it, how would your church respond?)

2. Do YOU personally feel inspired by this act or repulsed by it?

3. Feel free to share your thoughts and provide feedback. This is a sensative issue for church folks, please be as honest as possible.

I found out I was infected when the test was offered to me in a similiar manner ( free ). I was also tired of being afraid of the answer. There's one thing that everyone should understand--the prevention of the spread of this should be first & foremost not just to the clergy , but all the people of the church on down to people that live off the streets. It's the most confidentual test if one wants it to be, & knowing a positive result would prolong ones life. Most importantly, to stop one from becoming infected.
I got nothing but open arms & unconditional love from my church @ the worst time of my life. They even helped me get to the popes audience @ the Vadican & was blessed by Pope John Paul. The church was instramental in my recovery & my acceptance process.
The youtube clip was more than inspirring & should be televised for days, weeks, months, years until it's no longer a worldwide threat.

I think this would be accepted in our church. I think some older folks would be shocked the first time it was suggested, but understand. I feel inspired by this initiative. I wish more areas did it. Everyone is scared about HIV and AIDs. They should all chill. While we should be careful when it comes to sex, most people still haven't fully understood that a condom even if it does no break does not fully protect. Many people misunderstand this. However, the fear of being around people with HIV/AIDs should be tamed b/c people now live for 40+ years in HIV status alone w/out ever moving into AIDs status. We have come a long way.

Well, I think it's fantastic. AIDS isn't such a big problem in NZ, but I think people in my church would mostly support something like this.
I feel inspired because I'm sick of churches who stick their head in the sand about these kids of issues, as if AIDs is some form of divine punishment for people who can't keep thier zips up. Let's remove the stigma so churches can be about supporting people to live healthy and whole lives, not judge and condemn people to silence and death.
I applaud these clergy, what a brave and Jesus act, reminds me of Jesus touching the leper, also the defiled, untouchables of those times...
