What causes non-HIV AIDS? And what is it? |
My grandma was just diagnosed with non-HIV AIDS. I don't know what to do and I'm really upset, and apparently she's dying...I feel that the more I'm educated teh more I can be comfortable with what's going on. (Oh, and she's been sick a lot lately, and she doesn't have a boyfriend, nor is she with my grandpa anymore so I don't think it's sexually transmitted.) No, this is different than HIV/AIDS. Sorry about your Grandmother. I had never heard of this until just now so I looked it up on GOOGLE. It is an immunodeficiency syndrome in which HIV cannot be detected called Idiopathic CD-4+ T-Lymphotopenia or ICL. It is associated with a retroviral partical called Human Intracisternal A-type Particle Type-II (HIAP-II) This will definitely help you Good question. I'd never heard of that. Apparently a recognized illness now, tho very rare. its a virus that tricks the immune system by mimicking it. it does so by injecting it's dna into a host cell and taking over. like hijacking.people don't die of aids but die of things like colds and flues because thier immune system has been replaced. having hiv means the body is infected with the virus but the virus hasn't taken over the system yet. This is rather confusing, since AIDS is the advanced form of HIV infection. Maybe it's the other way around, HIV-positive but not yet fullblown AIDS? With today's medical advances, HIV-positive people can (with proper treatment) live normal lives, though having to be careful to take their medications properly and not spread the disease. her disease might have skipped the HIV stage and just turned into full blown AIDS |
