How does hiv/aids affect african american teenagers?

hiv/aids

It doesn't affect african american teenagers any differently than it would teenagers of different races. Remember AIDS doesn't favor one person over the other or one race over the other. It is a worldwide CRISIS.

Politically correct, but realistically incorrect. and african AMERICAN by definition doesn't include what's going on internationally. If you meant to say BLACK, then say black. it's not a perjorative term. Report It

Platitudes about racial equality do a terrible disservice to the African-American community who really are disproportionately affected by AIDS, who need better health strategies that will address THEIR needs as a community. One-size clearly does not fit all. Report It

There is no difference as to how HIV/AIDS effects African Americans than anyone else. It's not a race disease like some, it acts on everyone much in the same way.

HIV affect in the same way the african people, but there is a different beetwen an another part of the world people or african people, this kind of STD are not racist, but there is a thing that affect more the african people, and its the most part of the HIV inffect in the world, are in africa. 75% of the HIV+ live in africa.

The hiv affect in 2 ways the teenager people

1.- They can lose they parents (Specialy they mom)
2.-They can catch the HIV from 2 way, from they mom and in a sexual intercourse

Finally, the HIV affect more the countrys, where there are hungry and poverty

Actually, African-Americans ARE disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS.

Despite making up about 8 percent of the US population, black people have 3000 MORE AIDS cases than white people who make up the MAJORITY of the US.

So you tell me how there is equality if 8 percent of the population has more AIDS than 50+ percent of the population???

Surely, something is amiss and here it is...

Young black men are statistically much more likely to get into trouble with drugs, violence and wind up in prison. Drug use and prison time are major risks for HIV. Assaults into prison account for some infection. Others pick up HIV from unprotected sex. Others get it from injection drug use or bad gang tattoos. Poverty and lack of education fuel these risks. A growing trend in the black community is that some men are engaging in secretive and anonymous sex with other men. They wind up contracting HIV through risky anal sex, then bring it home to their wives and girlfriends. Not usspecting anything's wrong, black women in long-term relationships may skip HIV testing and wind up not finding out they have HIV till it's too late.

So what about teens? Well, a lot of these risk factors peak during the years between 15 and 24. Black men join gangs or get incarcerated. Black girls may fall into traps of teenage pregnancy (in which process they may also get HIV) and drop out of school. And so forth.

So it's up to public health professionals to tailor their HIV prevention messages to young people in the African-American community. Getting the mesages out early is the best way to stop problems before they start.
