GAY MEN: How would you react if....? |
your significant other confided in you that he was HIV+? well, i wasnt saying that gay men were the only ones that come into contact with these diseases. i just wanted to hear from gay/bi guys since i am gay. I was diagnosed with HIV on Feb. 24, 1992 and I have lived with it since. I have had two relationships in that time and the current one started on Feb. 6, 1998 and that was the first thing I told him when we met. It is my responsibility to others to let them know. My partner loves me and he doesn't look at me as some diseased person. HIV in not a death sentence anymore it is a chronic disease like high blood pressure or diabetes. With the proper medications you could live a long and good life. I have been on the meds now for over 3 years and I have blood test every three month and they can not detect the virus in my system anymore, that doesn't mean that I m cured it just means that is antibody is so low that they can't find it. If some one cares about you, it doesn't matter what you have or how you look, love concurs all. Do you mean your partner became HIV+ while in the relationship or was HIV+ before you meet and did not tell you until after things got serious. Gay men are not the only ones that get aids or other stds. If my partner told me they had something i would be there to support them. If they waited until after we were intimate i would be very hurt that they would take the risk of infecting me without my knowledge. I would feel hurt and betrayed because if you do that to someone you don't really love them. Honesty is the key number one and number two if you don't see it as an issue then don't make it one. That person knows how and what to do to not put you in the same boat as him besides that you have common sense. An infection is an infection no matter what kind, but it only infects the body just make sure it hasn鈥檛 infected his mind, which would make him super paranoid or depressed. That 鈥?that will be another battle to address later as well if you are willing and capable to handle. See the glass half full other than half empty and be positive. Hard to know for sure. I'd like to think I would be supportive. Of course, I would be worried and wonder if I'd contacted it and would get tested immediately. If I found out that he knew for a long time and just told me know, I think I would be really p*ssed and some big ol' argument would follow. If he just found out - and we had an open relationship, so it wasn't that he was cheating - hopefully, I would be understanding, sensitive and helpful. Wow that would suck. I honestly don't know what i would do. I would like to think that would never happen to me, but it may and i guess i will deal with it then. if youll were mar its a different story but if not leae him because he should have told you before that situation on how you found out If he told me before we had sexual intercourse I would support him no matter what. It does not make a difference when your in love. i think i would be scared a bit but i would live with it and try a way around it. as long as i'd been wearing my wellies i'd be ther to support him, if we'd bin goin barebackm id be (S)hittin kittens support them and get tested too & i agree w/ peggy s bi& stright people can contract it too Idk Idk Idk Idk Idk Idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... |
