Do you always die of aids and hiv?

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV targets the immune system, resulting in a weakened state. This makes HIV/AIDS patients susceptible to many illnesses healthy people normally don't get. Prior to the discovery of antiretroviral therapy, AIDS patients would die from these opportunistic infections.

Fortunately, we know understand much more about this virus and disease. The discovery of several different types of antiretroviral medications and combinations now allow doctors to treat - but not cure - HIV. Patients can now lead more normal lives, sometimes for several decades. We are know seeing HIV/AIDS patients die of "normal" diseases, such as heart attacks, strokes, cancer, etc.

While HIV patients are now living longer, they may develop long-term side effects from these drugs. We are only starting to understand these problems.

Technically you cant die from aids. all it does is break down your immune system. you would end up dying from any small disease like a common cold or such. if you've seen the movie bubble boy, you could seriously live like that, but i dont think anyone would want to. Im in a health school, and our teacher told us this story about how recently they found a strange tree and took leaves. turns out it killed all the hiv virus that it was put with, but when they came back to look for that tree it had been cut down, and they cant find another like it. in the amazon i think. sad really....

Well, eventually. And I think that when the people die it's when HIV turns into full-blown AIDS and that's when the person gets really sick.

But like the person above said, Magic Johnson caught the fact he had it within a matter of weeks, and her has it, but barely.

you don't die of aids or hiv - rather the complications associated with the disease.

It's the same deal with cancer. no autopsy has listed 'cancer' as cause of death.

Not with HIV. HIV is practically cured. All they do is attack it every 3 months and it goes away and comes back.
