What do you think about people with AIDS or HIV......?

I have a question that i have put much thought into....I am not a judgemental person and do not judge people who have AIDS or who are HIV+. My question is what do you think about possibly marking people who have the disease somehow. possibly with a small tattoo or registry or anything like that....i know there are many pros and cons to each side of this argument and i have tried to think of all of them but i want your thoughts.....it could help many innocent people....and also hurt many innocent people....but it could protect people that are lied to......and it could cause people to be come a target.....what do you think would it help solve the problem or would it create more problems and how......

its not all about the tattoo thing i just threw that out there....im not saying one way or the other is right im looking for opinions....and ill play the advocate since this is lop sided.....what if you were with your partner for a couple years and you were completely in love and never told you they had aids and then you end up with it not knowing and then its over and your stuck with aids....you were careful you did the right things you still have to suffer from there lies.....what if you have a child and they contract the disease.....they have to suffer for there parents lie.....and leave the tattoo thing alone it was just to get an idea out there there would/will be no tattoo....but should'nt there be something more done to fight this, what is considered the largest epidemic to date???....there are no cures and if everyone knew who had aids...the numbers would DROP staggeringly....

I have met several people with AIDS or HIV, and I think it is unfortunate that people get this deadly disease.

Some of them are very responsible people who will do everything in their power to avoid spreading their disease. Others--too many others--just don't care.

Branding or labeling people with this illness would probably not work. The responsible people are not the problem and the irresponsible people will hide the label.

The best advice I have heard or can give is "don't have unprotected sex unless it is a person you know you can trust." That is far better protection than marking a person would be.

I think people with AIDS or HIV+ should not be segregated. They are humans too. The only disease they have is AIDS or HIV. that's not a big deal. after all, humans can overcome all his problems by any means. another possible suggestion is that they all should be send to a restricted area. perhaps Moon or Mars is s better solution.

I do actually understand what your trying to say. there have been many instances where people who are well aware they have aids, go out and have sex with people, which of course is very wrong. However i dont think marking them with a tattoo is the right thing to do. Aids has enough social stigma attached to it, and marking them this way would be dehuminising and undignified.

That's crazy? I was totally just joking around with one of my friends the other day and we were talking about HIV/AIDS... and I had asked her why don't they make a mark on your forehead so people know better then to sleep with them. Do they really consider that? Or was that just a thought of yours too? That sorda sounds mean but I was kidding, it's sad people make a mistake one night and have to live with such a disease for the rest of their lives. WATCH WHO YOU SLEEP WITH PEOPLE!

rediculous, no one has right to force that upon anyone. if someone contracts aids from someone who is down as having the condition surely it's their own fault, you shouldn't be having sex with people you don't love and if you love em you'd think you'd know a bit about them.

ffs. I have a relative who has Aids and I dont want this person to be "marked". You might as well say u want them to live in colonies like lepers.

It would CREATE problems. People with Aids most likely dont want to be singled out. I understand some people may-ugh!- fear people with Aids but ...okay im not going on any more about this. ..........Are u drunk?

I totally agree, I think if there was like a stamp on there ID or a public list the numbers would drop drastically, thats getting the awareness out there and Although it might not be fair to some. Its not fair to the people that catch it

It would be a totally ludicrous to 'label' people with such diseases! How would you feel if you had to have a tattoo or such?
There are very few diseases that can be passed on by looking at people, brushing past them or even touching them.
Do some more research.

aids is also a disease and the deceased person needs cure if possible and compassion otrherwise. there shud be no stigna attached to any disease. we have to make a strong cmapaign.

They are regular people. I don't think they should be sexuall active or involved in health care of children. They shouldn't be discriminated against either.

I think its definately wrong when innocent people catch diseases. I was once one of em...good thing it was curable and NOT Hiv/Aids, but i think of those who have AIDS/HIV and was lied to by their partner...So i think to myself "Do they deserve to walk around with some marking on them like a branded cow? ....then I answer no. No one deserves to be humiliated...and those who humiliate them do not even know the whole story..For all they know they could have been raped and contracted it from that. I just think people with AIDS/HIV should have the sense to tell their partners they are infected and stop lying and infecting innocent others. The worse day ever was last month at work when I had to give a HIV test to this beautiful girl who had hopes and dreams as any other and then when the test came back I had to sit there and give her the news that shes HIV positive. She didnt deserve to be raped and she damn sure don't deserve to be walking around with some stamp on her.

NO, I do not think people who are HIV+ should be labeled. What if you had the virus, would you want to be "branded"? What if you had contracted the virus through a rape (completely unconsentual and through no fault of their own)? I understand your argument about protecting people from people that may lie about their status, but what about the people that are HIV+ and do not know it... they can pass the virus also.

We can not put the responsibility of our safety on others, we need to be responsible for our own actions. You can do this by using a latex condom every time you have sex, using a water based lube every time (helps reduce your chances of contracting an STD), inspect your partner for bumps, discharges or any other signs of STDs, go together to get an HIV & STD test so you know each others results. many places offer FREE testing, you can check http://www.hivtest.org/ for a location near you.
