Can a person have sex with someone with aids and have a baby by that person and not get aids?

I know a girl who has had sex with a guy who has aids and had a baby by him and she says she doesn't have hiv or aids. I know that the baby sometimes escape's getting infected but can the girl?

Contrary to common folklore, the transmission rate of HIV per vaginal intercourse with an infected partner is only about 1 in 1000. That means that out of every thousand acts of penis-vagina sex with one of the partners having HIV, only one of those instances will result in HIV transmission. So no, chances are she doesn't have HIV, and then neither would the baby. A sperm cell doesn't just have an HIV virus hanging out inside it. The virus resides in the leukocytes.

Also, for reasons that are not fully understood yet, some people appear to have a natural immunity to HIV.

Of course, she might just be lying. Or she might have the virus but the baby might not. The placenta protects the fetus to a certain degree so only *some* babies catch it from their mothers in utero. The mother being on her medications helps to further minimize the risk of transmission.

On a personal note, I hate the scare tactics that the "educational" system and the media use on us. It really insults my intelligence. "If you have sex with an HIV+ person once, you will die of AIDS!" "If you smoke pot, you will lose your job and rob liquor stores!" I wish I could give them a good knuckle sandwich. LOL

Yes, she can.
Since she had unprotected sex with him in order to get pregnant, yes, she may eventually get it.
The chances of getting HIV is high with unprotected sex.

Just because she says she doesn't have it, does not mean she doesn't. She should get tested frequently.

I know someone who got AIDS from unprotected sex. All that it takes is one time.

It's highly probable that the girl and or baby will contract the virus. The testing for HIV should be done every 6 months if someone is at high risk. And she needs to be smacked for putting her child at risk. Do they not have sex ed at your local high school?

Does the father have full blown aids or HIV? The child has his father's sperm within him. The virus is definitely in tthere. The child will develop aids, and she most likely will too. There is a very very slim chance she willl not.

It is possible. HIV patients if on medicine, it will drastically reduce their viral count and thus be harder to transmit it, however not impossible. Its playing russian roulette but it can be done.

Magic Johnson's wife and baby did.

I think IVF is suitable in that kinda predicament. Ask a doctor to be sure.

They can be carriers
