When did the people Discover HIV and AIDS?

I want to know the time when people discovered HIV and AIDS. I want to know at least the year or between what years.

Well HIV was noticed as early as the late 50's when a man in camaroon died of a strange illness..At the time they didn't know what it was but they saved his blood and in the 80's when hiv/aids came to the scene they tested it and sure enough it was hiv...Also in missouri a 15 year old african american boy came to hospital with strange illness's it was the late 60's and nobody had a clue what was going on..Once again they saved his blood and tested it and sure enough that's what it was..So it didn't come to the scene in the 80's but it was discovered in the 80's after it became widespread..It's possible it was around in the 30's and 40's but wasn't spread out of africa til later due to travel and technology and such..To correct the person above me the first name they gave the hiv/aids virus was grid..Gay related immune deficiency..It wasn't until later when hetorosexual people began developing it as well that they changed the name to aids..If your really curious you should watch the movie "and the band played on" it was also a book

It wasn't until 1982 that they found the groups of diseases were caused by an immune system deficiency, and gave it the acronym AIDS.

It was first recognized December 1, 1981, but there is no way to know exactly when the 1st case was.
