Why do Christian conservatives consistently vote on only two issues Gay marriage and Abortion?

Over the last 2 elections, we have allowed the politicians to "reduce" Christianity to two issues. Gay marriage, and abortion. Honestly millions voted on those two issue, and we all see where that landed us 8 years later. The church has a bad habit of "ranking" morality. That is we rank those two issues as being the highest on our morality scale. Here's a thought, when did it become moral for us to sit by and watch poor people starve, or children die because the have no health care, or prisons being filled to capacity with young men who should be filling colleges and universties instead. When did it become moral to preach prosperity while allowing, thousands to die every day from HIV and AIDS. Why is it that we are so focused on saving the lives of unborn children, yet we care nothing for those children who are already here. How is it that we preach about the sanctity of marriage, when the divorce and infidelty rate within the church is rapidly increasing as we speak. Morality is much larger than protesting gay marriage and abortion

I think your question should of been "Why do Christians vote on only two things when voting...Pro Life and No stem cell research. That is all they need to pick a candidate to run our country. And dont forget the back burner ....No Gay marriages...lmao Then on the other side of the coin these same people who are pro life will send our babies to war to die for nothing....go figure.

The problem isn't them voting on those two issues alone, it's other people not voting at all. If people who cared about other things expressed themselves in the voting booth instead of on line the politicians would have to start listening, until then, it's the Christians who will continue to control the Politicians since they are the ones who choose not to be ignored.

because if their was a candidate who could magically fix the list of problems you just named we would obviously vote for them however we live in reality and we have two candidates to choose from. one supports a woman's *choice* to kill an unborn baby the other doesn't. as well as one supports destroying the namesake of marriage while the other does not. and don't rationalize a group of people, it makes you sound ignorant

Murdering innocent babies is something to be concerned about. Yes we are also concerned with other issues such as poverty and health care. Also the sanctity of marriage is being threatened by homosexuals who want to ruin the institution by getting married. These are two very important issues for Christians.

Well, since you brought it up, I guess it's because of the same reasons the Democraps platform is constantly also Abortion rights, (in favor of) and gun control (in favor of). Could this possibly be the reason Bush was elected, to preserve our second amendment right to own firearms and make our own choice with abortion?

Keep living with your easy stereotypes of what "Christians" and "Conservatives" are and you'll keep losing the elctions Christian does not equal conservative and conservative does not equal Christian. Yes and if it were not for these two issues Bush wouldn't have even come close to being elected in the first place. Without these two the Republicans wouldn't have a prayer.

Americans have this notion that by having religion and state as separate entities they are better off. This is completely not true because European countries, in which the church and state are interconnected are more liberal, modern, moral and essentially sane! The issues you have mentioned, Gay marriage and abortion are simply not issues over here. These are decisions that people make and have nothing to do with me or anyone else but the people affected.

By having the church and government as separate entities, religion has become big business in America. Big business uses gimmick, advertising etc to make people do, say and believe things they don't really understand or know the facts about - they are effectively brain-washed. I've seen those mega-churches you get in America - its more like a rock concert and more disturbingly, like the Nuremberg rallies held in Nazi Germany which I have no doubt in saying made people believe and do things they did not really want to do/understand - brain-washing!

In Europe where the Church has its domain and the state has its equal domain, the church essentially has no power. It is recognised to the highest political level and has no reason to want more power (brain wash). It simply serves as an axillary service that helps people when they need to use it - which is what religion should be about.

What I'm saying is the church in Europe is for the people whereas in America it is a business and all businesses want power for their own political/financial gains! Christianity in America is a mutated form - it shares NOTHING in common with christianity around the world. Its more of a cult movement of people rather than an intimate relationship between small groups of like minded people.

The other statements you have made highlight the insanity of religious belief in America. People are suffering all over the world and they are concerned about a bunch of cells! If they stopped listening to the preachers (failed politicians), stopped attending brain-washing sessions on a weekly basis and used their own minds they would realise that what they 'believe' is horrifically flawed.

Religion has its place and politics has its place. The two should not be mixed and one should not influence the other. I say this because politics is about everyone; religion is about people like yourself!

To the person above; the EU is actually the world biggest donor of aid/financial support - look it up! America (in terms of the percentage of GDP donated) ranks near the bottom of the developed world!

They must live in weird neighborhoods. I do know that stats show that conservative areas do have a lot of teen pregnancies that have direct correlations with abstinence only taught in their schools.

Kills me that our tax-dollars are wasted on failed projects like that. They should have to pay back our money if they want to continue to fund such nonsense.

So how many strangers do you cover on your insurance? How many children do you house because they are hungry, cold & sick?

Your points can be equalled to saying that the Dems are telling ppl that it's ok to be lazy, take no personal initiative or responsibility because we will just take the money from someone who is and make them support you.

You need to fact check, during the Bush administration funding for HIV/AIDs stood at the highest level of any president, we are the first to arrive at natural disasters and supply aid to those stricken with poverty. Malaria nets to protect children in Africa. Laura Bush aided increasing education funding for at risk youth. The prison issue, well criminals have their choices, but people like Chuck Colson have made great strides in prevention and rehab. So rethink your morality issues. Realize that Christian Conservatives are more complex and just maybe realizing it is you whom ignore their efforts.
