Is it illegal to transfer AIDS to another person on purpose with full knowledge that you have it?

One of my friends received HIV from a person who had it and knew about it but never told him. In the USA is that illegal to do?

I believe the law varies from state to state on that. In most states it is illegal, but very difficult to prove that the person knew they were infected and that they intentionally infected the other person. The best advice if your friend is interested in charging that person is to get a lawyer that deals with personal injury claims and let them handle it.

it is a felony. find proof the person knew they had HIV, either through a previous partner who notified him/her.

or, doctor-patient confidentiality NO LONGER APPLIES when the patient has committed a felony and if the doctor is aware their patient is putting other people at risk. a court can order medical records to be released in order to have evidence he/she was aware they had HIV when they infected your friend.

Not only is it illegal, it is also a felony. You go to jail for it. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to prove that the HIV+ person knew that he or she was was carrying the virus, and the trial becomes very nasty and dirty when the defence lawyer will point to other possible reasons for the infection.

Yep, you have to prove it and they might be able to track it via public health clinics.. It can be a legal/court issue. I would think it's illegal anywhere, but there have been cases in the USA.
