*** documentary on midwives?

i watched a documentory on a midwife and her life. one thing i noticed that they did then (about 40-50 years ago) was gather all the breast milk from the mothers, and put in a large pot together, boil it and then share between all the babies.
could the babies catch anything from the breast milk if one of the mothers had a disease like hiv/aids or any other illness?
when and why did they stop this practice?

Milk banks are coming back in with mothers donating milk for sick or premmie babies.

Back in the day kids probably did get diseases, but nowaday they screen the milk and the mother.

The practice decreased after the introducion of formula

Hai come on Boiled milk never has a virus or bacteria,..these living killers have only life till 50 degree Celsius,.

This practice is not stopped,no one can stop it ever,.lolz,.u know now its changed in different way,. if a mother is a working women she will use breast pump to feed her child,.she will pump her milk as per the requirement and she will boil it and feed her child when she is out or in office,.its all because now a days many mothers are not house wife and they shy to feed there child in public,.

The boiling would have killed most or all of the viruses. I don't know why they didn't just let the mothers breast feed their own babies though.
